St. Lucia: Man shot in Conway, Castries

Saint Lucia police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred in Conway, Castries which left one man nursing gunshot injuries on Friday, May 14, according to media reports.

The incident occurred sometime between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.

The victim, identified so far as ‘GT’, is 25 years old.

He sustained a bullet wound to his left arm.

According to additional media reports, the victim was talking to a friend when a lone gunman, travelling on foot, fired shots in their direction.

It was further reported that ‘GT’ was hit by one of the bullets and fell to the ground, bleeding profusely. His friend reportedly escaped unhurt.

Emergency personnel from the Gros Islet Fire Station responded, treated him at the scene, then transported him to the Owen King European Union Hospital in a stable condition.

It is unclear at this time the motive for the shooting and to date, no one has been formally arrested.
