Saint Lucia police seize illegal guns, ammunition in Vieux Fort

A total of 68 charges have been slapped on six individuals after Saint Lucia police in Vieux Fort seized five firearms and over 100 rounds of live ammunition, according to a press release.

Irkey Leonce Bernard, Marlon Preudhomme, Arenato Soumere, Dante Jn Baptiste, Shaquille Joseph and Dahved Augustin, all of Martin Luther King Street, Vieux Fort, were charged for the unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition, following an operation conducted between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, on Martin Luther King Street, Vieux Fort by officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department in Vieux Fort.

Police said Jn Baptiste and Preudhomme were also charged for possession of a controlled drug to wit, cannabis, and the possession of a controlled drug to writ, cannabis, with the intention to supply.

All six defendants were remanded in police custody in relation to the firearm and ammunition charges. They are scheduled to reappear before the Second District Court on Tuesday, June 8, 2021.
