Saint Lucia: Man charged for possession of illegal gun, ammunition

A 43-year-old man from Monchy, Gros Islet in Saint Lucia was granted bail on Monday, May 17, 2021, for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, according to a police press release.

Prince Nelson, of La Bourne, Monchy pleaded guilty to the charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and the unlawful possession of ammunition.

He was granted $15,000 cash bail or suitable surety and he is scheduled to reappear in court for sentencing on Monday, May 31, 2021.

The release said Nelson was arrested after officers attached to the Gros Islet Police Station executed a search warrant at his home on Saturday, May 15, 2021, “which resulted in the recovery of a Taurus 9mm Pistol and a magazine containing 12 rounds of 9mm ammunition”.
