Saint Lucia: Four murdered in 24 hours

The bloodbath continues in Saint Lucia where four people were shot dead — in two separate double murders — within 24 hours earlier this week.

The latest incident occurred on Monday, May 24, after 9 p.m., on Church Street in Dennery, where two males were gunned down.

They have been identified as Daniel Prospere, 19, also known as ‘ Cesario’, and Thomas Florent, 28, also known as ‘Pole’,

Reports indicate that the two men were sitting on a step outside a house when they were shot multiple times. They died on the spot.

No other injuries were reported.

Hours before this incident, on Sunday, May 23, a man and a woman were killed and two other persons injured in a drive-by shooting in Bois Den, Jacmel, according to reports.

They have been identified as Tysha Raphael, 23, and Jason Polius, 25, both of Bois Den, Jacmel.

Reports are that Raphael went to get food when she got caught up in the shooting.

The incident occurred around 9 p.m.

One victim sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was in stable condition while another who underwent emergency surgery was reportedly in serious condition.

Their current medical status is unknown.

There are no reports of anyone been formally arrested or charged in connection with the two double murders.

Prime Minister Allen Chastanet has responded to the recent murders, calling them “unacceptable”.

“Sending my condolences to the families of Tysha and the others who tragically lost their lives over the weekend. This innocent loss of life is totally unacceptable. #StoptheViolence #LiveUpGunsDown #StaySafe,” Chastanet wrote on his official Facebook page on Tuesday.
