Jamaica: Beenie Man fined

Veteran Jamaican entertainer Beenie Man was on Monday morning, May 19, 2021, fined JMD$150,000 or three months in jail for breaching the Disaster Risk management Act (DRMA), which the government uses in its battle against the spread of COVID-19.

He had pleaded guilty on April 19, 2021, and appeared in the St Elizabeth Parish Court on Monday where his sentence was handed down.

He was charged at an event held in the parish of St Elizabeth on November 29, 2020.
