Jamaica: 6-year-old shot dead

A manhunt is underway for a 15-year-old boy who is accused of fatally shooting his six-year-old cousin on Monday, May 17, 2021, in the parish of Westmoreland.

Dead is Jadaine Miller, a resident of Dalling Street, Harmony Town, Savanna-la-Mar, where the shooting occurred.

Police said that at about 2:30 p.m., Jadaine was outside the house in the yard when his cousin, who lives at the same residence, walked up to him and fired a shot that hit him on the left side of his back.

Romario, Jadaine’s uncle, told the Jamaica Star that the six-year-old then collapsed in his arms.

He said the cousin walked away from the scene.

Relatives described the deceased as “full of life”, was always giving jokes and he loved flying kites.

About the shooter, relatives said he was troublesome but they are shocked and surprised that he would actually shoot his own cousin.

A motive for the shooting is not clear.
