Some members of the underworld are fuming mad or counting their losses after the Guyana Police Force (GPF) made a large drug bust on Friday morning on the banks of the Canje River, Cow Savannah.
On the right bank of the river, the lawmen seized 55 kilograms of marijuana with a street value of just under GYD$14 million.
Police said the estimated 1,0000 marijuana plants found on the quarter-acre farm were about two feet in height.
The plants were cut down.
The GDF members also searched the left side of the river where they found a number of parcels wrapped in transparent and black plastic bags.
They contained leaves, seeds, and stems – all suspected to be cannabis.
These items, along with a black bag containing six 12-gauge cartridges, were taken into custody.
Three persons were later taken into custody after they were nabbed along the Canje River in a wooden boat with 500 grams of suspected marijuana items – leaves, seeds, and stems – in a backpack.
The lawmen were on the Canje River when they stopped the boat at Calabash with the three persons on the boat with the illegal items.
It is not clear if the arrests are related to the Cow Savannah busts.
