Grenadians among four on drug charges in St. Vincent

Police have arrested and charged two Grenadian nationals and two nationals of St. Vincent on drug possession and trafficking charges, according to a press release from the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force.

They are 38-year-old painter Michael Milton and 40-year-old fisherman Deron Williams, both from Grenada; and St. Vincent nationals 40-year-old Dwayne Richards and 53-year-old Bertram Simmons.

Richards and Simmons are farmers and residents of Fitz Hughes.

According to the release, police arrested and charged all four on May 23, 2021, with the offences of possession of a controlled drug, drug trafficking, and attempting to export a controlled drug. The accused men were also charged with attempting to export a controlled drug.

Police said the men had in their possession, 75,350 grammes of cannabis with intent to supply it to another, and were charged with having in their possession 75,350 grams of cannabis for the purpose of drug trafficking.

The incident occurred on May 21, 2021, on Bequia, police said.
