BVI: Stabbing, shooting reported

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) is investigating a stabbing and a shooting — that occurred in separate incidents on Thursday, May 27, 2021, according to police sources.

The stabbing occurred on Long Trench, Tortola. According to police sources, a son is alleged to have stabbed his father during a domestic dispute.

The father was reportedly hospitalised with a stab wound to the stomach area.

The son was taken into police custody.

His condition is unknown and no further details were immediately available on the incident.

Meanwhile, a police source said no injuries were reported in a shooting incident on Fort Hill, Tortola, that occurred minutes after 1 a.m. Thursday.

Police have since recovered several spent shells from the scene.

And no arrests have been made, the source said.
